Hero Boards, Lip Dub Filming & Learner-Led Launches (Session 1, Week 2)

Hello from the Journey Studio!

A lot has happened this week, and I’ll be telling you all about it in this edition of the Journey Newsletter.

Genre: Discovering Our Gifts, Passions & Purpose

This week, the learners spent time reflecting on their gifts, passions, and an injustice they would like to fix. These reflections are helping them think about the next steps in their own Hero’s Journey.

On Wednesday, the learners began working on their Hero Boards. After receiving feedback from their studiomates, they revised their boards and continued refining their ideas so they could be ready for greenlighting by Friday.

Quest: Filming the Annual Lip Dub

With all the roles for the annual Acton Lip Dub decided, the learners were ready to begin filming!

From Monday through Wednesday, they filmed every scene for the video. Once filming was complete, the video was edited.

On Thursday, the Studio watched the video together and offered feedback. The editors then used that feedback to make revisions before the final video was submitted to the annual Acton Lip Dub Competition.

Learner-Led Launches

This week also marked the beginning of a new responsibility in the Journey Studio: learner-led launches.

Starting with Avigail and Savva, learners began taking the lead and guiding their fellow studio mates through the morning launch. It was exciting to see them step up and take ownership of this part of the Studio experience.
