Team Building, Kindness & Lip Dub (Session 1, Week 2)

Dear Sparks Families,

Welcome to our second week of school! The Sparks had a full and fun week packed with team-building activities, Core Skills, Lip Dub practice, and outdoor time.

Throughout the week, our learners explored kindness, courage, teamwork, and how to handle strong feelings while spending plenty of time learning and playing together.

Monday: Kindness & the Spark O Meter

On Monday, the Sparks:

• Began their journey by discussing what it means to be kind

• Were introduced to their challenge for the session: filling up the “Spark O Meter” by completing 100 acts of kindness

• Continued working on their Lip Dub

• Enjoyed lots of outdoor free time in the woods and on the playground

  
  

Tuesday: Misjudging Others & Team Building

Tuesday was filled with:

• A launch on what it means to misjudge another person

• Core Skills work

• Team-building games, including Telephone and Statues

• Studio time and outdoor free time

Wednesday: Working Together

Wednesday began with a discussion about teamwork and what it means to work together. The Sparks then:

• Enjoyed a fun morning of House Cup

• Jumped into their Core Skills work

• Spent plenty of time outdoors

Thursday: Courage & Lip Dub

On Thursday, the Sparks:

• Began with a launch about courage

• Enjoyed a read-aloud of Jabari Jumps by Gaia Cornwall and discussed what requires courage from each of them

• Worked on their Core Skills

• Enjoyed outdoor free time in the woods and on the playground

• Practiced and finally filmed their Lip Dub!

Friday: Handling Strong Feelings

To end the week, the Sparks:

• Began with a launch about how to handle strong feelings

• Continued their Core Skills work

• Played in the woods and on the playground

• Played team-building games together during closing circle
