Hello everyone!

The two-week break is officially over, and Session 3 has begun! With Decision-Making as our Quest and NGA Talks as our Genre, this session is already shaping up to be an exciting and meaningful one. Here’s what we’ve been working on this week:

1. Your NGA Is On! Building Real-World Connections

A Next Great Adventure (NGA) is at the heart of what makes Launchpad unique, offering learners a four-year head start into the real world. This session, learners began working on NGA Talks—speeches they create to present to potential mentors, guests, or supporters. Through these talks, learners practice pitching their ideas and requesting funding, connections, or guidance to support their NGAs.

2. Math Meets Decision-Making

This session introduces a brand-new type of Quest, where statistics, probability, and critical thinking come together to explore real-life decision-making. This week, learners played dice-rolling, coin-flipping, and probability-based games, learning how percentages and quick thinking can impact outcomes. They also created decision trees, discovering how one choice can lead to many possible consequences.

3. Post–Civil War America and the Reconstruction Era

In Civics, learners continued their journey through American history, moving along the timeline to study the Reconstruction Era and post–Civil War movements. Research focused on key events and societal changes that shaped the United States during this critical period.

4. Physical Development Expands: NVSA and Personal Training

Session 3 also brought an exciting update to our Physical Development (PD) schedule. Every Thursday, learners visit NVSA, a nearby sports facility, where they participate in a variety of sports for an hour. On Mondays, learners head to the gym to work with a personal trainer who designs workouts tailored to their needs and abilities.

Next week will bring even more decision-making challenges and NGA speeches, and we can’t wait to share what’s ahead. Stay tuned!
