Welcome to the second week of the third session in the Journey studio!
In the past two weeks, we kicked off a new quest: Travel Quest! The Falcons started by creating a bucket list of all the places around the world they wanted to visit. Make sure to ask your child about their list; you will find fascinating places :) After that, each Falcon chose the place they wanted to focus on this session and created an itinerary for their trip. They also found a family member to interview and learn essential tips about travel from their experience. Next week, the Falcons will be planning their field trip, and we can not wait to see where they will take us :)
For Genre, the Falcons are writing a Greek Myth! At the beginning of the week, they read different myths and wrote down the main characters, the conflict, and the moral. Then, they brainstormed the one flaw they found in themselves and would like to change, and they wrote the main plot of their myth around it.
For civ, the Falcons Dove into ancient Rome. We had a couple of exciting discussions. One of the questions the learners liked the most was: You are a father of an impoverished family of five. You and your family are cramped and unable to prepare food, as public housing is highly flammable. Foul smells fill your nostrils, and you have minimal sanitation or water. Fed up, your wife finally asks you to apply to become a gladiator. Do you:
Sign up to become a Gladiator - because fame and a better economic future for your family are worth the risk of death or
Reject the request - preferring a less luxurious life and likely dying from disease before mid-life.
On Wednesday, we visited the nearby NVSA to use their court for PD. The Falcons played a heated game of soccer with LP Falcons.
What a fantastic start to this session! See you in the next week’s newsletter.
