As the third week of the session has come to a close, learners have planned their review, learned about the Catholic Church in the Middle Ages, and participated in a two-day cooking challenge. Here’s the details:
#1 - Laying out the spices and bringing them home! Reviews have almost started! As the third week has come to a close, learners will soon need to start writing their reviews. This week, it was all about preparation! They wrote out what they wanted to add in their introductions, body paragraphs, and closing. This marks the end of preparations, and learners are now ready to begin writing their restaurant review.
#2 - Charlemagne, Pope Leo III, and the Catholic Church? Journey is in the middle of the Middle Ages! Journey’s civ this session is the Middle Ages, and in the third week of learning all about it, we focused on the Catholic Church and the rise of Charlemagne to power in Europe. This was around the middle of the Middle Ages, so we still have much more to learn.
#3 - A double-day cooking challenge? A homemade charcuterie board! For the third cooking challenge of the session, learners had first to research the answers to numerous chemistry questions and then be quizzed on them. On the second day, if the team succeeded in the quiz, then they would cook. Each team had 1.5 hours in the kitchen, and the mystery dishes they had to cook were bread, jam, butter, and cheese. Combining all this created a charcuterie board that was worth sharing!
#4 - Our first visit? Acton Annapolis arrives! For quite some time, two Journey learners have been planning a visit from Acton Annapolis in Maryland. Finally, on Friday, they arrived at AABC! They did genre, core skills, and quest with Journey and Launchpad. We walked to Starbucks with them and played tons of team-building games together!
