As the fifth week of the session has ended, learners have prepared for their exhibition, given critiques on their reviews, and gone to Alpine! Here’s the details:
#1 - An exhibition food market? The ultimate chemistry show-off! Starting this week, the learners have begun preparing for their exhibition, where each learner will create a food stand and sell what they make to the guests. This week, they brainstormed what to sell and created a plan for when to make it and what they will do to make their exhibition the best!
#2 - Almost done! Voice and warm/cool critiques! As they can see the finish line for finally publishing their restaurant review, learners have focused on giving two types of critiques and revisions on their reviews. The first is a warm & cool feedback type critique, where you have a fixed list of categories like “distinct paragraphs” or “a hooking introduction” to which you would give warm and cool feedback. The second type of critique is a voice critique, which targets the voice of the writing and how it sounds when read aloud.
#3 - An Alpine day? Field, fire, and fun! Even though we had the overnight Alpine trip last week, this week’s Alpine trip was not cancelled! The first thing we did as part of the Alpine day was hike with Launchpad. This one went down to the overlook, giving us a beautiful view of the Hudson River and Yonkers in front of us. After walking back, we went to the pirate ship to play Avalon with Launchpad! After some time, Journey and Launchpad headed to the field and played Tail Tag with Discovery, then split up to play volleyball near the volleyball net or play Gaga ball in the Gaga pit. Finally, we headed behind the field to a campfire area and built a fire to roast marshmallows and eat s'mores. In conclusion, everybody had loads of fun, and I would call this Alpine day a success.
We can’t wait to tell you all about it!
