Welcome back to Week 4! It was a rather rainy week, so I hope you still found some cheer!

Hopping right into what we did this week, we have our Genre letters as usual. Again, we are working on the refining process, with “Victory” and “Forgiveness” being the objects of Learners' focus. Since it was a shorter-than-usual week, we only had the opportunity to critique these two letters on their Grammar, Organization, Effectiveness, Tone, and how well they stayed on topic, just as they did last week! Then, of course, we had just enough time to put this feedback to good use, making revisions and adjustments accordingly. These letters are starting to shine, so I'm excited for you to have the opportunity to hear them!

In other news, we had an exciting decision for art! This is the week we chose our mediums for the exhibition project, an important decision that will heavily impact the rest of this session as we work on our final piece. Our new skill, charcoal, was exciting, as working with such a bold medium to create complex facial features was a great challenge. To wrap up the week, we had another art critique to keep each learner sharp and able to address their most significant weakness in the future.

As for Psychology, we chose between learning about Mental illness or Neurosis. If we decided to research Mental Illness, we would need to understand its meaning, provide a few examples, and, of course, the very complex history behind it. On the other hand, interest in Neurosis was met with understanding the term, Freud's theories on its causes, and answering what the difference between Mental Illness and Neurosis (if any!)

Finally, we had our Civ discussions concerning the Holocaust and the experience of the Jewish people not only in Germany, but also outside it. Making us put ourselves in the shoes of those who had to make tough decisions on whether to run, hide, or even help those who come to your door, even if it meant endangering not just yourself but your young child and partner!

There are only a few more weeks left this year, so make sure to cheer on your Learners during this final stretch. Here’s to hoping for nicer weather!
