Lip Dub, House Cup, Team Building & Core Skills (Session 1, Week 2)

Hello Discovery Parents!

It’s the second week of the session, and we did so much! I’m excited to tell you all about what we did this week.

Monday: Lip Dub Practice & All About Discovery

On Monday, we had our first day of practicing the Lip Dub, and it was really fun!

We also did an “All About Discovery” Circle, where some learners became mentors for new learners who joined Discovery this session. Others created presentations about different aspects of Discovery. For example, some learners talked about warnings and charges, while others explained why Guides don’t always answer questions.

It was a helpful introduction for our new learners and a fun activity for everyone!

Tuesday: Creating Our Contract

On Tuesday, we started working on our Discovery Contract. Everyone worked together to figure out what we need to have a good contract and a strong studio community.

We also practiced our Lip Dub some more and filmed it for the first time. It wasn’t the real film yet—it was just a practice film—but it was still exciting to see everything coming together!

Wednesday: House Cup & Team Building

Wednesday was our first day of House Cup, which was really exciting!

Some Houses worked on Core Skills, while others spent their time playing team-building games. We also went to Malikone Park, where we did PD and played Capture the Flag.

Of course, the Lip Dub was still on everyone’s minds! Learners practiced their dances, cool moves, and tricks. Some even worked on their pogo-sticking skills!

Thursday: Filming the Lip Dub

On Thursday, we filmed the real Lip Dub!

It was really cool. Some people were a little nervous, while others were really excited. I was very excited!

We filmed two versions just in case and then got to vote on which one we wanted to use. I voted for the second one, while some people voted for the first. They were both really good!

Friday: Core Skills, Board Games & House Cup Closing

On Friday, we did a lot!

We started with Core Skills and then had our first board game time of the session. It was great to have some time to play and connect with one another.

In the afternoon, we had a Circle to learn about a new system for our Core Skills. Everyone was excited to hear about the new system and practice how it will work.

We also had our first House Cup Closing Group, which was a fun way to end the week together.

It was pretty much our first full week of the session, and it was a really exciting one! There was so much learning, teamwork, creativity, and fun happening in Discovery.
