Hello all!

This week included a long-awaited trip to Orlando, Florida, where the LaunchPad Studio visited Acton Academy: Arts Thereafter and Universal Studios. This experience was nothing short of amazing and provided an incredible opportunity for bonding, independence, and growth. Here’s a recap of our adventure:

Day 1: Flights, Chaos, and Our Airbnb

If our flight to Orlando hadn’t been so chaotic, it wouldn’t be worth mentioning—but it definitely was! The day included several bumps along the way, starting with two learners forgetting their passports, which led to a late arrival at the gate. Once there, we waited an additional hour before the plane finally took off.

Thankfully, the flight itself was smooth. However, upon landing, we had to wait yet another hour before being assigned a gate. To wrap up the day, we bought groceries and headed to our Airbnb to rest and recharge for the busy days ahead.

Day 2: Universal Studios — Rides, Lines, and Loads of Laughs

Day 2 brought a big shift in energy as we spent the entire day at Universal Studios. Learners enjoyed roller coasters, long lines filled with laughter, and a full day of fun as a studio. By around 6:00 PM, the crowds thinned out, and we were able to enjoy many rides with little to no wait. Speaking on behalf of the LaunchPad Studio, this truly felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Day 3: Acton Academy: Arts Thereafter — A Visit Worth the Wait

Day 3 was one of the major highlights of the trip with our visit to Acton Academy: Arts Thereafter. Learners toured their impressive campus, played dodgeball with their studios, and participated in meaningful studio discussions. The visit offered valuable insights and lessons that we can bring back to our own LaunchPad Studio, making it a powerful learning and bonding experience with another Acton community.

Day 4: Disney Springs, Taft Park, and the Journey Home

Our final day in Orlando was just as enjoyable as the rest. We began the morning at Disney Springs, where learners participated in a scavenger hunt alongside another Acton Academy. Divided into three groups, learners solved riddles and completed challenges to move forward.

Before heading to the airport, we stopped at Taft Park, a small neighborhood park, where learners played for an hour before making our way to the airport. The trip concluded with a smooth and short flight back home.
