Greetings from the Journey Studio! This week was both joyful and challenging as learners prepared for their Exhibition while completing their plays and essays. Their dedication, perseverance, and growth were evident throughout the week.
Genre: Essay Writing and Achievement
On Monday, learners selected their strongest essay from the session. On Tuesday, they conducted a Six-Trait critique, offering thoughtful peer feedback. They then revised their essays to meet Exhibition standards. By Friday, learners submitted their final essays and compiled their work to earn their Genre Badge, marking an important milestone in their writing journey.
Quest: Final Play Rehearsal and Exhibition Performance
Quest reached its exciting conclusion this week. On Tuesday, learners held their final rehearsal, refining their performances and memorization. On Wednesday, they proudly performed their American Revolution plays in front of Exhibition guests, demonstrating confidence, teamwork, and historical understanding. On Friday, learners compiled their Quest work to earn their Quest Badge.
Civ: Constitutional Convention Debate and Critical Thinking
In Civ, learners researched the Founding Fathers and examined their views on slavery. They explored a challenging historical dilemma: whether to sign the Constitution despite compromises on slavery. Learners debated complex perspectives, weighing moral responsibility against political unity, and gained a deeper understanding of leadership, compromise, and the difficult decisions faced during the nation’s founding.
Field Trip to New York City: Experiencing American History
This week, learners traveled to New York City for an immersive historical field trip. They visited a museum featuring artifacts from the American Revolution and explored a significant location where George Washington held strategic discussions with his generals. The learners also took a ferry to Ellis Island, experiencing firsthand an important landmark in American history.
This meaningful week highlighted learners’ academic growth, courage in performance, and deep engagement with history. We are proud of their accomplishments and look forward to the next session.
