This session started with a bang!
In Genre, new learners began preparing for their upcoming apprenticeships by researching their unique gifts, habits, and the companies or industries where they hope to gain experience. Later this session, they will begin drafting and sending emails to secure their first apprenticeship opportunities.
Meanwhile, older learners are diving into personal finance debates. They are currently in the research phase and will soon engage in structured debates, sharpening their critical thinking and communication skills.
For this Quest, learners are exploring how to manage money through smart spending, saving, and investing. To bring these concepts to life, they’ve started participating in the Stock Market Game, a real-time stock market simulator. Each learner began with a virtual $100,000 to invest, and the participant with the highest total equity by the end of the session will win a $75 prize—adding excitement and real-world application to financial literacy.
In Civics, learners are studying the historical events leading up to and including World War I. This week, they focused on major infrastructure developments like the Suez Canal and the Transcontinental railroad, followed by a thoughtful group discussion exploring their global impact.
