Greetings from Sparks Kingdom!

The Sparks had an exciting and eventful week filled with creativity, collaboration, outdoor exploration, and preparation for the upcoming Children’s Business Fair (CBF).

Monday

The week began with an engaging read-aloud during Launch, followed by a hands-on invention challenge. Using “surprise bags” filled with materials such as cardboard, pipe cleaners, and tape, learners created their own inventions and practiced auctioning them to one another. The Sparks also worked through Core and enjoyed outdoor free time.

Tuesday

Tuesday’s Launch focused on community and communication. Learners discussed what it means to communicate effectively and played a fun game of Simon Says connected to the theme. During Writers Workshop, the Sparks learned how to create and type price lists in preparation for the Children’s Business Fair. The day also included Core work and outdoor play in the woods and on the playground.

Wednesday

On Wednesday, learners explored the story of George Ferris and discussed how some inventions are created simply to bring joy and fun to others. In Quest, the Sparks designed imaginary inventions for a carnival or amusement park and presented their ideas to the Tribe. The day also included Core work and participation in the school-wide House Cup.

Thursday

Thursday’s Launch centered around building a stronger Kindness Culture within the studio. Learners reflected on ways to make their community even more supportive and caring. During Writers Workshop, they began creating sales pitches for the products they plan to sell at the Children’s Business Fair. The Sparks also completed Core work and spent time outdoors.

Friday at Alpine

The week ended with a full day at Alpine filled with adventure and team-building. Learners explored the woods, including the Fort, the Ship, and the Mines, enjoyed outdoor watercolor painting under the trees, and participated in House Cup team-building games alongside peers from across the school.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend!
