We are now entering the final stretch of the session, and learners are working diligently to complete all projects in preparation for the Exhibition.
Genre
This week in Genre, learners participated in mock debates and received structured peer feedback to identify strengths and areas for improvement. They recorded and reviewed their debates to self-assess performance, then revised their arguments based on both peer feedback and personal reflection. This iterative process helped learners strengthen clarity, reasoning, and delivery.
Quest
In Quest, learners explored the concept of haggling and practiced real-world negotiation skills. After their research, learners went off campus to apply their knowledge by attempting to negotiate prices with local business owners. They also studied different types of taxes and began assembling their financial trifolds, which will showcase their learning throughout the session and be presented at the upcoming Exhibition.
Civics
This week in Civics, learners examined topics including the Model T, factory economies, and patterns of global violence in the early 20th century. These themes led to rich discussions about technological change and economic behavior. One key question explored was: If gasoline rose to $20 per gallon, would people shift to electric cars, walking, or cycling instead of driving traditional vehicles? This sparked thoughtful debate and multiple perspectives.
Apprenticeship
In Apprenticeship, learners wrote their third professional email and developed a phone pitch for potential mentors. They expanded their question sets, received feedback, and revised their pitches for clarity and professionalism. They then created an in-person pitch and reviewed best practices for meeting prospective employers, focusing on effective communication and professional etiquette.
