What a week it’s been for the Discovery learners!

The studio has been buzzing with excitement as we near the end of the session, with projects wrapping up and new experiences unfolding every day.

Writer’s Workshop:

This week, learners continued working on their interviews. The main challenge throughout this project has been learning how to hold meaningful conversations and ask thoughtful questions. Many of the topics discussed included plans for the future, favorite things about Acton, and the greatest challenges they’ve faced. As learners finish their writing, some have even chosen to record their interviews—a wonderful way to bring their work to life!

Quest:

In Quest, Discovery learners continued exploring cultures around the world through hands-on projects. Several groups have already created beautiful sugar skulls, while others are eagerly waiting for their turn next week. As the session wraps up, each learner will choose a project to display during Exhibition, where families will have the chance to see their hard work and creativity.

Field Trip Fun:

One of the most exciting highlights of the week was the visit to LG Headquarters in Englewood Cliffs! Learners had the chance to explore the Inspiration Lab, filled with innovative technologies and interactive exhibits. The race car simulator and robot portrait drawer were definite favorites! After exploring, learners met with Mark from the Closter Nature Center, who explained how the building operates efficiently with minimal energy use—a fascinating connection between technology and sustainability.

Looking Ahead:

Our Exhibition Hosts are hard at work finalizing plans for next week’s end-of-session Exhibition. We can’t wait to celebrate all that the learners have accomplished and to share their incredible work with families and friends!
