Welcome back to AABC! It’s hard to believe this week was only four days long, because our learners packed in so many exciting activities.
Exploring the Studio
On day one, learners jumped right into exploring the many changes around the studio and school. A scavenger hunt helped them notice all the updates from the summer. One of the most popular additions was the arrival of fish to our Discovery family! Learners are already brainstorming names and are eager to take responsibility for caring for our new friends.
Team Building & Lip Dub Prep
Throughout the week, learners participated in team-building games, including two studio favorites: Celebrity and Two Truths and a Lie. They also launched their 2025 Lip Dub journey! After selecting the song “Best Day of My Life” by American Authors, they voted for filmmakers and directors. These leaders are now busy organizing the groups and sections of the song. With an ambitious plan in place, we can’t wait to see their creativity shine in the final performance.
Zoo Adventure
On Friday, Discovery headed to Van Saun Park Zoo for a day of learning and fun. The trip began with a presentation on animal adaptations, where learners got an up-close look at box turtles, giant millipedes, and a Pueblan milk snake. They discovered how these fascinating creatures use unique adaptations to survive in the wild. Afterward, learners explored the zoo, visiting cows, horses, mountain lions, prairie dogs, and more. A highlight for many was the extreme weather simulator, where they got to experience what different environments feel like!
Looking Ahead
Over the coming weeks, learners will continue building strong bonds through team games, finish their Lip Dub, and work together to create their studio contract. We’re excited to see what the rest of Session One has in store for Discovery at AABC!
