Discovery: Session 3, Week 3

Hello discovery parents,

This week Discovery had a boat challenge for quest.   We all got to build our own boats and test them in the water.  The challenge was to float your boat and add as many mini weights as possible. Most teams tied and got the max amount of weights to put as possible which was 300 grams. So that was a lot of success!  We had so much fun using all of the different materials to build our boats.

For art we got to do  painting with acrylic paint that the art committee planned. It turned out great! Some of the things we painted were landscapes and abstract art.

On Wednesdays we have core skills with our houses:red house, blue house, grey house, green house, orange house. We also  played fun team building games!  Each house is working hard and it is really nice to be able to get help from the older learners.

For Writers Workshop we are working on the Hero Journey and this week we played  Jeopardy with questions about the hero's journey.  Some questions were: What are the last 4 parts of a heroes journey that can be mixed up, whats the stage before final showdown, and more!   Lots of questions were about different heroes and their journeys and mentors from different movies, books and even anime.

For Alpine we are going to make food like corn, bananas with chocolate, and vegetable tortillas. We also worked with Zack for the 3rd time.

Thank you for reading. More news next week. Have a great weekend.
