The second week of the session has come and gone!

This week, learners focused on financial literacy, exploring how to manage expenses and make thoughtful financial decisions. They also began planning their businesses for the upcoming Children’s Business Fair (CBF)—an exciting event where learners create and run their own businesses, selling products they’ve designed. Not only do they gain valuable real-world experience, but they also keep their profits.

For those who may not be familiar, the CBF is open to the wider community, and each year many young entrepreneurs from outside Acton Academy Bergen County participate. This year’s event is shaping up to be the biggest yet!

In Genre, learners began preparing for their financial debates by selecting topics they will argue in favor of. They also researched and reflected on strategies for achieving financial independence, developing both critical thinking and persuasive communication skills.

In Civics, learners explored the rivalry between Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison, diving into the historical “War of Currents” and its impact on modern technology. They also examined how surgeries were performed in the early 20th century—sparking engaging discussions about how far medicine has advanced.

It was a week full of learning, curiosity, and meaningful conversations!

Located in Closter, NJ, Acton Academy Bergen County offers an immersive, studio-based learning experience.
