Hello parents and guardians,
Welcome to the Session 2, Week 3 newsletter! This week was a bit unusual because we had a surprise day off on Monday and a trip to Alpine on Friday. With the shorter week, our schedule shifted—we only had Writers Workshop once, but we enjoyed two full days of Quest.
🌍 Quest – Africa, Geography Bee & Map Skills
This week in Quest, we prepared for our second geography bee, which took place on Thursday. The geography bee challenges us to answer questions about world geography, countries, landmarks, and continents.
On Wednesday, we focused on Africa. We filled out a form about the continent, completed a map scavenger hunt, and then went to Ashley for approval. Once that was done, we practiced for the upcoming geography bee.
✍️ Writers Workshop – Monologues About Big Dreams
Our Writers Workshop challenge this week was to write a monologue where a character shares a big dream.
Some learners wrote comedic monologues.
Others chose a dramatic style.
At the end, learners could choose to read their monologue aloud as a bonus challenge.
We also played new improv games, which were extremely fun—and funny! Learners came up with some creative situations that had everyone laughing.
🎵 Specials – STAGA Music & Talent Show Prep
This week’s Special was Music, where we worked on the STAGA platform.
Many learners enjoyed STAGA and even completed all available lessons.
STAGA also lets learners create their own songs (though a few couldn’t access that feature).
Our other Special was Talent Show prep. Learners practiced acts—solo or in groups—or worked on artwork for the gallery. The Talent Show will take place at the end of the session.
🌲 Alpine Friday
And of course… Friday was our trip to Alpine! It was a fun day filled with adventure, exploration, and time outdoors.
