This week was full of fun, learning, and adventure!
Learners engaged in meaningful discussions about investing, leadership, entrepreneurship, and history while also enjoying an exciting outdoor experience at Alpine Scout Camp.
Genre: Moral Lessons & Financial Thinking
The week began with a Genre Challenge focused on moral stories and how their lessons could apply to investing and decision-making. Learners explored stories such as Midas and the Golden Touch and The Boy and the Filberts, reflecting on topics like greed, patience, and wise choices.
Later in the week, learners prepared interview questions and emailed their parents to schedule conversations about financial habits, investing strategies, and financial personality types. These discussions helped learners connect classroom concepts with real-world perspectives.
Quest: Stock Market Strategies & Entrepreneurship
In Quest, learners researched a variety of investing concepts and stock market strategies. Topics ranged from foundational ideas such as diversification and index funds to more advanced concepts like the Barbell Strategy and Black Swan events.
On Thursday, learners welcomed a special Hero’s Visit from Jacob, an entrepreneur who shared his personal business journey, including the development of products and projects from his former company. Learners gained valuable insight into entrepreneurship, innovation, and business leadership through his experiences.
Civics
This week in Civics, learners researched the lives and legacies of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Martin Luther King Jr.. Discussions focused on the impact both individuals had on American society and the lasting influence of their leadership and values.
Alpine Scout Camp Adventure
On Friday, learners spent the day at Alpine Scout Camp enjoying outdoor activities and team-building experiences. The day began with House games before learners traveled to the Hudson River for a scenic riverside walk.
Later, learners returned to camp and worked with Zach to create pouch necklaces using string and deerskin. Combined with beautiful weather and time outdoors, it was an unforgettable day full of creativity, connection, and adventure.
