Welcome to the 5th session’s fifth newsletter!
This week, we started making final changes to our short stories. Based on the feedback we received last week, we changed plot points, interactions between characters, and many other things. After this, we did another round of feedback and revisions. This time, we switched up the teams and gave different people feedback, and then we revised our stories.
For Civ, we examined how countries kept peace after Napoleon through the Congress of Vienna. We researched how and why the Congress of Vienna strengthened major powers, like the U.K., and minor powers, like Portugal.
During Quest, we worked on our Spanish in Rocket Language. We also tested our Spanish skills by translating a movie clip using just what we have learned. We didn’t use any tools to help us, and we translated sentences as best we could.
We also scheduled a time to talk with some of the learners from Acton, Guatemala. We will have a 30-minute conversation with them in only Spanish so we can test what we have learned further.
On Thursday, we went to Alpine again! Unlike last week, though, it wasn’t a two-day thing and was just our Acton. We went hiking up the mountain and saw two beautiful views overlooking the Hudson River. After returning to the Alpine area, we played Gaga Ball and Tag with Sparks, Discovery, and Journey. We merged out of Discovery and Sparks to start a fire and roast marshmallows with Journey.
Thank you for reading! Hope to see you again for next week’s newsletter and the exhibition!
