Physics Experiments, Story Writing, and STEM Challenges (Session 4, Week 1)

This week was filled with exciting STEM learning, creative storytelling, and hands-on engineering challenges. Due to a winter blizzard, learners returned on Tuesday to discover massive snow piles, creating a fun and memorable start to the new session.
Our Physics Quest began with learners researching fundamental physics concepts such as displacement, distance, potential energy, and kinetic energy.
Learners also had the opportunity to pursue an Honors Physics Quest, completing advanced challenges to earn honors recognition on their transcript. Applying their knowledge, learners engineered their own model cars using bottle caps, cardboard, and straws, then tested and raced them down ramps while predicting distance and analyzing performance using physics principles.
In Genre, learners began writing their own Hero’s Allegory stories. They explored the meaning of allegory, studied powerful examples, and developed original characters with unique traits, motivations, and goals. Learners then began drafting their stories, starting with the inciting incident—the moment that changes the hero’s journey.
