This week marked the final days of the fourth session of the school year. Over five full days, Launchpad learners wrapped up their Genre and Quest projects while also preparing for the upcoming session.
On Monday, learners began by scheduling their week and setting priorities. The week also included several key events:
P.D. with Jacob
House Cup games on Wednesday
Physics Day on Thursday
Genre
This week, learners focused on finalizing and formatting their allegories for competition and public sharing. Each learner submitted their work for “greenlighting” and had the opportunity to share their allegories with parents. You can find links to each learner’s final allegory at the end of this newsletter.
Quest
Quest was the central focus of the week. Learners applied weeks of research to design interactive physics demonstrations that made complex concepts engaging and easy to understand.
On Thursday, alongside the Journey Studio, Launchpad learners brought their projects to Alpine, where Sparks and Discovery learners rotated through stations. Launchpad learners explained physics concepts in simple, accessible ways and guided younger learners through hands-on experiences.
Here are a few of the stations created:
Zohar and Ava designed a system of plastic tubes where stepping on a bottle launched a paper rocket, demonstrating force and motion.
Shahar and Mia built a large, fully functional catapult using bungee cords, teaching potential and kinetic energy by launching objects across the field.
Niko, Aya, and Genevieve created a pulley system that allowed learners to experience mechanical advantage by lifting weights with ease.
Reflection & Growth
Learners also spent time providing one another with thoughtful feedback on Intentionality, Civility, Excellence, and Leadership throughout the session—an important part of their growth and self-awareness.
As the session comes to a close, there is a strong sense of accomplishment and excitement—both for the upcoming break and for the start of the next session on April 13.
Final Allegories
Jattia – Final Allegory
Mia – Final Allegory
Shahar – Of Pride and Joy
Omer – Hero’s Allegory
Zohar – Red Means Stop
Genevieve – The Invisible Box
Aya – The Magnolia Tree
We wish everyone a wonderful and restful break and look forward to welcoming the learners back for the next session!
