Hello parents, learners, families, and friends,
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and a restful break. Let’s jump into this week’s highlights—starting with Writer’s Workshop!
As you know, we’ve been learning about theatrical writing, and this week we began writing our own scenes. First, we read and memorized sample scripts. There were two person scenes: one dramatic and one comedic, and two four person scenes with the same mix. They were so interesting and fun to perform!
On the second day, learners began writing their own original scenes that blended both comedy and drama. Most learners haven’t finished yet, but they’ll continue next week. I can’t wait to see how their stories unfold.
Now let’s move on to Quest!
We continued our Cartography Quest, exploring the continent of Asia, which has forty eight countries! We started with our usual scavenger hunt using a map to answer questions.
The biggest highlight this week was creating travel brochures for an Asian country the learners chose to research. They gathered facts about climate, weather, landmarks, population, and more. Then they organized everything into sections, added images, and folded it into a brochure layout.
On Friday, we held our third Geography Bee, and we now have sixty-eight questions to memorize!
Discovery learners also continued preparing for the upcoming Talent Show. Next week, they will perform their acts for Council approval.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
