Hello from the Journey Studio! As many of you know, this is our first newsletter of 2026 and the start of Session 3.
This session, learners will be exploring the American Revolution across Genre, Civics, and Quest.
This week was full of learning and excitement. Are you ready to hear what we’ve been working on?
Genre
This session in Genre, learners are preparing essays for the American Field Trip Contest. On Monday, learners selected five major events in American history and five American innovations. On Wednesday, they wrote an essay about one of the historical events they selected. By Friday, learners revised their essays using feedback from fellow Falcons, strengthening their writing and arguments.
Quest
In Quest this week, learners created a timeline of events from the American Revolution. Each learner was assigned a specific event to research. After completing their work, the group came together to build one large shared timeline, helping everyone better understand what happened—and when.
On Thursday, learners designed their own flags and created maps showing where Revolutionary events took place, combining history, geography, and creativity.
Civics
In Civics, learners researched King George III and explored big questions such as:“‘No taxation without representation’ became a rallying cry for the colonists. Although King George III was often viewed as tyrannical, which is more important to a peaceful and prosperous society—ensuring representation for all, or supporting a single unifying authority?”
These discussions encouraged critical thinking and respectful debate.
New Game: The Energy Game
This week, we also launched a brand-new game called the Energy Game! Learners receive missions from the guide, and if more than 70% of learners complete their mission, a pin moves along the board. If enough pins make it across, the learners will earn a field trip—building teamwork, motivation, and shared responsibility.
