This past week has been a whirlwind of learning, connection, and exploration for our Sparks!
Motivation Monday kicked off with a powerful launch about the power of choice and decision-making. After a thought-provoking video, our Sparks engaged in a deep discussion about how a single choice can ripple outwards, influencing subsequent decisions throughout the day. In the afternoon, we were treated to the vibrant Lip Dub videos from other Acton Academies in our zone. The winners of the 2025 Lip Dub competition will be announced this coming Monday, September 29th. Let's cross our fingers that our Sparks bring home the trophy for the third year in a row!
Team-Building Tuesday focused on the essence of mutual support. We read the heartwarming story, A Sick Day For Amos McGee, which sparked a meaningful conversation about how we support the people we care about and how we like to be supported when we need help. This was a truly introspective session. In the afternoon, the Sparks embarked on creating their own studio contract, a separate document from the initial school year contract. This marks the beginning of a two-week endeavor to craft a robust contract that will foster a strong and well-connected tribe.
Worldwide Wednesday transported us to the northern reaches of Europe to learn about the Sámi people and their rich cultural traditions. We explored their way of life in the cold climates, their unique work, and its significance to them. Following a captivating video, the Sparks delved into our new Studio Committees and cast their votes for their chosen roles.
Conundrum Thursday saw our Sparks donning their metaphorical business suits to tackle a challenging business conundrum. In the afternoon, they returned to their contract development, dedicating time to brainstorming and proposing new rules for their studio agreement.
Friday was an adventure at Alpine, where we immersed ourselves in nature, explored the big magnificent ship, and enjoyed the old fort. The morning began with a launch centered around nature and the concepts of nature and abundance, offering many learners a fresh perspective. The afternoon was dedicated to project time, where the Sparks were tasked with creating their own rendition of a Celtic knot. Despite the challenge, the tribe rallied together, offering support to those who needed a little extra help in the end to complete their intricate designs.
We eagerly anticipate another engaging week ahead with our Sparks. Enjoy your weekend!
