Hello parents and learners,

It has been a fun and exciting week in the Discovery Studio!

Writer’s Workshop

As you know, this session we are focusing on theatrical writing. This week, learners wrote a monologue from the perspective of a character who shares a secret. The secret could be personal or completely fictional—either choice led to creative and thoughtful writing. Learners worked hard, and so many wanted to share their monologues during circle time that we ran out of time!

In addition to writing, Writer’s Workshop includes theater games. This week we played Conductor and Freeze, bringing our total to four games so far. Next week, each studio will vote on which game they want to play. All monologue progress and game challenges are being tracked in our WW books.

Quest: Cartography

This week in Quest, we continued our Cartography Quest!

On Day 1, learners created their own compass using simple materials. Afterward, they completed a North America scavenger hunt focused on countries.

On Day 2, they took on a South America scavenger hunt and then had the option to create an informational poster about either continent, filled with facts and illustrations.

We ended the day with a Geography Bee, similar to last year’s Spelling Bee—but with country-based questions. Learners had a great time showing what they knew!

Talent Show & Other Highlights

Throughout the week, learners also worked on our new music platform and began preparing for the end-of-session Talent Show. Many learners have already created their plans and started practicing their acts or planning their artwork.

We also had the pleasure of hosting another visiting Acton group from Ohio!

That’s it for this week—We hope you all had a wonderful week!
