Welcome back! As we approach our exciting Exhibition, learners have been hard at work refining their speeches and celebrating some unforgettable winter experiences. Here are this week’s highlights:
Speeches are nearly complete! A genre milestone worth celebrating: We are entering the final stages of speech preparation, and the growth has been remarkable. This week’s Genre Challenges focused on memorizing speeches, recording practice presentations, and strengthening confident delivery. Learners are developing the skills to present with clarity, poise, and conviction, ensuring they arrive at the Exhibition ready to share their work with pride.
A true winter wonderland! Our first Alpine snow day: Despite 15 inches of fresh snowfall, our Alpine trip went ahead as planned! To ensure comfort and safety in the freezing temperatures, the day was thoughtfully divided into two parts. Learners enjoyed outdoor free time exploring snowy paths, sledding, and building igloos. This marked our first-ever Alpine experience in the snow—a historic and joyful moment for Acton Academy.
Learner-led launches and team-building games: This week, learners took ownership of many launches and activities, demonstrating creativity and leadership. Topics ranged from legendary speeches to ancient board games. One especially popular activity involved learners creating humorous presentations, which were shuffled so each person presented someone else’s work—resulting in laughter, confidence-building, and strong community spirit. Special appreciation to Omer B for introducing and leading this memorable activity!
Next week marks the final week of the Session, when we will host the Exhibition and announce the winner of the House Cup Trophy. We look forward to celebrating the learners’ achievements and sharing this special milestone with you!
