Welcome to the second Launchpad Newsletter of the year!

This week was filled with setting up the foundations for the entire year. If you remember, last week we started working on the contracts for the studio. These contracts are the rules that all of us are going to follow for the rest of the year. All that to say, we completely finished and signed all the contracts this week. Underneath is a quick description of each contract:

  1. Rules of Engagement - The rules for each learner to follow during a discussion.

  2. Outing Contract - Rules for how to act when on a trip or outing.

  3. Launchpad Contract - Contract for how we should hold each other accountable and charge other’s falcon bucks.

  4. Vision and Mission Statement - The goal of our time together at AABC and Acton’s goal as a whole.

  5. Honor Code Contract - Rules for how and why Honor Codes are given and received.

  6. Guide and Falcon Contract - The promises both guides and falcons make to themselves to work hard and be kind.

We all worked hard to complete these different contracts so I would encourage everyone reading to look over the contracts and see how we plan on governing ourselves this school year.

Other than the contracts, we spent a lot of time working on the lip dub. After fully completing our plan last week, we used this entire week to film and edit the videos we had. Shahar worked really hard on the editing while we weren’t filming but that’s not to say we all didn’t work hard in our respective roles. We finalized the video and changed any parts that were needed on Thursday and Friday and submitted the final video Friday afternoon.

For NGA this week, we worked on our NGA Boards. Before that though, on Monday and Tuesday, we faced the challenges that are going to be toughest for each of us individually this year, how our perception of time and death affect our day-to-day lives, and the industries that intrigue us the most for our NGA. These challenges, and

some from last week helped us answer and complete questions we needed to add to our NGA Boards that we spent Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday completing.

Lastly, we planned the house cups and house meetings for the upcoming weeks. We gathered as a studio and planned games and activities for the forthcoming alpine trips; we chose a couple of games we knew each learner would like, and planned some other things for alpine. In addition, we made plans separately for each of our Wednesday and Friday house meetings, knowing that there should be a good balance of fun and learning during these meetings.

As you all can see, this week was very packed with set-up work. It took a lot of time and effort from each of us. We are all proud to say we worked our very best on everything this week and are excited to start the year great! Thank you for reading, and see you next week!
