The first week of Acton has come to a close, and what a week it was. This week was all about learners getting to know each other, feeling comfortable, and developing a sense of trust with their fellow learners. Throughout the whole week, we played many team-building games, and the Falcons enjoyed them a lot. All our morning launches this week were about introducing essential concepts and systems unique to AABC. Wednesday’s launch was all about “Guides do not answer questions,” and the Falcons came with great reasons why it is an important concept and how it can help them grow.
This week learners worked primarily on two projects: Independently, they worked on their hero board, and with their squad, they worked together to choreograph moves for the upcoming LIPDUB competition. “Wait, what is a hero board? What is the LIPDUB competition?” Ask your child, and I’m sure they will have a lot to say about these two projects ;).
The last piece of our learning this week was DEAR: Drop Everything and Read. The learners could pick any book from our new library and relax on their bean bag, sofa, or chair to enjoy reading it.
On Monday morning, we will launch Core Skills, and the learners will start setting their goals for Math, Reading, and Writing daily.
We can not wait to see them thrive!
