Discovery: Session 5, Week 3

Hello Parents of Discovery,

Hello everyone!  This week there was a lot going on!

On Monday, we had townhall.  We have new rules that learners made and barely anyone talked over! 😀 After town hall, we had D.E.A.R.  Some people got new books and went to the library, others stayed in and read the same books. North Discovery did writers workshop which is about poems and writing haikus. South Discovery did a quest which is E-ship / marketing. We had studio maintenance and changed seats.

On Tuesday, South Discovery had a launch on tornados. After South Discovery had chocolate making and North had core skills, after we switched so north had Chocolate making and South had core skills. North had quest and South had writers workshop haikus. We had closing groups and then dismissal.

On Wednesday North had a launch on tornado’s that was created by learners. In core skills, almost every homeroom had great core skills!  We had PE which was at Mollicone Park. It was our first time since the fall and it was very fun! The options were kickball, soccer, track, and capture the flag. Capture the flag was a very popular choice. In meditation, a lot of people made launches, closing groups, were talking on a Google doc, or playing on their Chromebooks.

After we had quest and writers workshop, we worked on marketing, and for writers workshop we had odes and an ode is a long poem about a topic that is supposed to mean a lot to you.

On Thursday a learner did a launch for North and in South it was led by a guide then we had marketing with Ray and core skills. We had quest and writers workshop that was free verse.

Friday in core skills everyone in big room was really focused and we had CIV about if animals can be heroes. Finally, we had a hero's visit with Ella E’s mom and it was really interesting!  We learned about her life and being a designer.
