Hello Discovery Parents!
This week in Discovery Studio was filled with creativity, teamwork, entrepreneurship, and plenty of fun activities!
In Art, learners voted on the top six mural ideas for the Makerspace wall. The finalists will now create small sketches of their concepts, and next week the studio will vote to choose one final design. Once selected, the entire studio will work together to paint the mural on the blank Makerspace wall. On Tuesday, learners took a short break from mural planning to build bird feeders using popsicle sticks — a creative and enjoyable project for everyone.
In Quest, learners researched founders of different companies and created Canva posters highlighting important information about each entrepreneur, including their education, age, lifespan, and accomplishments. These posters were added to our new “Hall of Founders,” which has quickly become an impressive display in the studio. Learners also continued preparing for the upcoming Children’s Business Fair by designing promotional posters with event details such as the location, start time, and activities. Soon, learners will help distribute these posters around town to spread the word about the event.
During Writer’s Workshop, learners continued developing and recording pitches for their business fair products. Many learners became especially creative, presenting their ideas in a “Shark Tank”-style format. Some even printed masks of the Sharks and acted as investors while their friends pitched products, making the experience both engaging and entertaining.
We also had P.D. this week. Although we planned to walk to Mollicone Park, light rain changed our plans, so learners stayed nearby for activities before eventually moving indoors once the weather became heavier.
It was another exciting and productive week in Discovery Studio, and we are looking forward to everything still to come with the Children’s Business Fair right around the corner!
