Titanic Quest, House Cup, Outdoor Adventures & Leadership (Session 6, Week 3)

Hi parents, families, and learners!

Welcome to this week's newsletter! Here's a look at everything we explored, created, and experienced this week—if your learners haven't already shared all the exciting details!

Monday

We started the week with our Morning Launch, reflecting on memories and why they are important to us.

Next, learners focused on Core Skills and D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read).

In the afternoon, Vivi, Emmy, Maya, and Livia launched their Curiosity Quest, diving into the story of the Titanic. Learners began researching the historic voyage, worked on research papers, and watched a documentary to build their understanding.

We wrapped up the day with a birthday Kahoot! celebrating Nevo. Happy Birthday, Nevo!

Tuesday

Tuesday was Adventure Day at Alpine!

Learners met with their House teams for fun games before Discovery headed out on the Red Dot Trail. Along the hike, one learner spotted a snake! Thankfully, it wasn't venomous, making for an exciting nature discovery.

The adventure continued with an afternoon at the pool. Although the water was a little chilly at first, everyone quickly adjusted and enjoyed a fun afternoon swimming before heading home.

Wednesday

Wednesday began with Morning Launch followed by House Cup Core Skills.

Later, we welcomed River, a learner from a LaunchPad studio in Texas. It's always inspiring to connect with fellow Acton learners and hear about experiences from other campuses.

For Physical Development, learners headed to Mollicone Park, where many enjoyed a lively game of Capture the Flag.

Back at the studio, the Titanic Quest continued as learners designed and built their own boats in preparation for a flotation challenge.

Thursday

Thursday's Morning Launch was led by Zohar from LaunchPad as part of his Servant Leadership journey.

After Core Skills and Specials, learners worked on year-end projects, including memory books and the studio mural. They also checked on the progress of their plants, and several morning glories are growing beautifully!

In the afternoon, it was time to put engineering skills to the test during the Titanic Quest. Learners launched their handmade boats into the water while adding weights to see which design could stay afloat the longest. To make the challenge even more realistic, Vivi, Emmy, and Maya created a giant block of ice to serve as an "iceberg"!

What a fantastic week of curiosity, teamwork, creativity, leadership, and hands-on learning. We can't wait to see what next week brings!
