Hello parents, families, and friends!
Welcome to this week's Discovery Newsletter. It was another exciting week filled with creativity, collaboration, and plenty of summer fun!
Monday
We kicked off the week with learner-led Morning Launches. In the North Studio, Tadek and Marcos led a discussion about clouds, while in the South Studio, Emmy and Vivi explored the topic of the evil eye.
Learners then focused on Core Skills and D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read).
In the afternoon, Aviya and Ella introduced their Growing Curiosity Quest all about movie trailers. Learners began writing scripts as they prepared to create their own original movie trailers.
We wrapped up the day by celebrating Kai's birthday with a fun Kahoot! Happy Birthday, Kai!
Tuesday
The day began with more learner-led Morning Launches as learners continued working toward earning their leadership badges.
The rest of the day included:
Core Skills and Specials.
Progress on the studio mural.
Planting morning glory vines outside the school.
Working on year-end memory books.
Working on Writing Workshop challenges, with some learners moving on to Night Zookeeper or additional Core Skills after completing their work.
If you visit the front of the school, you may spot our morning glory plants beginning to grow!
Wednesday
Wednesday featured two engaging Morning Launches. Ella E. and Ofri shared about technology companies, while Abadir led a discussion about building positive habits.
After Core Skills, the hot weather called for one thing... Water Play! Learners cooled off with water activities before heading indoors for free time, where many enjoyed board games and spending time with friends.
Later, the Growing Curiosity Quest continued as learners recorded their movie trailers. Some groups even completed filming!
We ended the day by celebrating Marcus's upcoming birthday with another Kahoot. Happy early Birthday, Marcus!
Thursday
On Thursday, learners continued their Core Skills before enjoying board games together.
In the afternoon, they returned to Aviya and Ella's Growing Curiosity Quest to edit their movie trailers for the final competition. We can't wait to find out which trailer takes the top prize!
We hope everyone has a wonderful Fourth of July weekend!
