Journey: Session 2, Week 5

We started the week by doing the session checkups in which each learner reflects on their achievements so far and sets SMART goals for the rest of the session.

In Genre, the learners had to work hard to critique their own and their fellow learners’ speech. They gave each other feedback and changed their speeches based on that. While providing the critiques, they also had to film and listen to their speech then change things after that.

In Quest, the Falcons were introduced to a new challenge: to create a virtual tour of their destination using Google Earth or WanderLog. The learners had to get familiar with the latest websites before beginning their tour. They continued building their plan, making notes to remember what they needed to say.

With the weather getting colder, the Falcons had to wear their best gear while going to the park.

The learners spent thirty minutes of their time learning about Rome’s ancient history on Thursday and Tuesday. They had an exciting discussion about Which would matter most to you as a Roman and why:

  • Direct representation in politics, enabling your voice to be heard

  • Unparalleled military, leaving you protected from foreign invaders

  • Economic prosperity, meaning every year your life gets a bit better economically;

  • Religious freedom: The state does not force you to follow any religion.

Next week the learners are looking forward to building their badges and finishing their trip and speeches. Thank you, and we’ll see you next week.
