Sparks: Session 5, Week 5

Dear Sparks Families,

As our fifth week of Session 5 comes to a close, we find ourselves reflecting on the energy, growth, and connection that defined these past few days. The Sparks Tribe continues to shine—leaning into challenges, supporting one another, and building momentum as we head toward our much-anticipated Business Fair.

Fitness Monday had us swinging through the trees—figuratively—as learners tapped into their inner animals for a Jungle Workout! While some declared it a tough one and others breezed through, every single Spark broke a sweat. It was a powerful reminder of how far their endurance, focus, and physical growth have come.

On Community Tuesday, we launched into a heartfelt conversation about the relationship between our emotional well-being and our sense of community. Sparks thoughtfully explored how the world around us influences the world within, taking ownership of their emotions and connections with care and curiosity.

Entrepreneurship Wednesday gave learners a glimpse of what’s possible through a video showcasing a Children’s Business Fair hosted by an Acton Academy in Texas. Seeing peers their age create, market, and sell their ideas lit a spark of inspiration—and reminded everyone just how close our own fair is!

Due to the sunshine and good fortune of weather, Thursday transformed into our Alpine Day. Sparks took full advantage, flying kites, enjoying the outdoors, and joining with Discovery, Journey, and Launchpad. These mixed moments added a vibrant dose of camaraderie and strengthened the fabric of our school culture.

We closed the week with Read Aloud Friday, enjoying A Sick Day for Amos McGee by Philip C. Stead. The story invited a warm discussion about how we show up for our friends—and how we hope they show up for us—especially when we’re not feeling our best. Thoughtful, empathetic conversations unfolded naturally in the studio.

Throughout the week, second core was buzzing with creative energy as Sparks continued preparing for Business Fair. From product testing to signage to pricing strategies, there is a palpable sense of excitement in the air. With just one week to go, anticipation is building—and we can’t wait to see what each learner brings to life!
