Greetings Parents,
This is the fourth Journey Newsletter of Session Four. As always, I’m your newsletter writer, Ozrik.
It’s been another engaging and fun week for the learners!
Genre
This week in Genre, learners revised the main sections of their TED Talks and practiced memorizing them. On Thursday, they shared recorded versions of their talks with peers, who then provided thoughtful feedback.
Quest
In Quest, learners explored pendulums in preparation for building their own on Wednesday. Earlier in the week, they applied their physics knowledge to predict where a marble would land after rolling down a ramp. It proved to be quite a challenge and required careful thinking and testing.
Civ
In Civ, learners researched Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States. They examined his legacy, including his role in reducing government corruption and the controversies surrounding his presidency. A key question they explored was: Was Andrew Jackson a harmful president, or was he what America needed at the time?
Alpine Day
On Friday, the entire Acton community spent the day at Alpine Scout Camp, enjoying time outdoors together.
Learner-Led Circles
This week featured several learner-led discussions. One highlight was a circle led by Seva, focusing on Julius Caesar. Learners were challenged to think critically about the choices they would have made as Caesar or as members of the Roman Senate.
