Hello from the Journey Studio!
This marked the final week of the Session, and it was a busy and exciting one. We spent time compiling our Badges, offering and receiving 360-degree feedback, celebrating together, and wrapping up Quest, Civics, and Genre.
Genre
This week in Genre, we submitted our science fiction stories to Ink & Impact. To prepare for the Exhibition, we practiced reading our stories aloud to two different learners and gathered feedback. We also compiled our Genre Badge and reflected on the three most important lessons we learned this Session.
Quest
In Quest, we focused on preparing presentations for the Exhibition. Our presentations explained how much we spent during the Quest and showcased the space stations we created. We compiled our Quest Badge, describing what we learned, how fun the Quest was, and why it was an important part of our Hero’s Journey.
Civics
This week in Civ., we learned about Samuel Slater and Denis Diderot’s Enlightenment Encyclopedia. We explored thought-provoking questions, including:
If you discovered a cure for cancer, would you share it with the world if your country declared it a military secret because it revealed techniques that could be misused?
Imagine you are Denis Diderot. Knowing your ideas may anger powerful people, would you publish your encyclopedia despite the risk of imprisonment, hide it until after your death, or choose another path? Why?
We compiled our Civics Badge, reflected on the lessons we learned, and chose our favorite Civics Challenge from this Session.
Celebrations
This week, we celebrated earning 250 gems in our Excellence Game with a party. We also enjoyed our annual Holiday Party, which was a lot of fun and a great way to celebrate the end of the Session together.
This week was hectic but exciting! Between badge compilation, the Exhibition, and the Talent Show, we stayed very busy. Everyone who participated in the Talent Show did a wonderful job. We had a great Session and are confident the next one will be just as successful.
As a studio, we would also like to congratulate Mia and Omer B., who will be moving on to the Launch Pad Studio next Session!
Have a great week, and we’ll see you again next Session!
