Hello from the Journey Studio!

This week, we began designing our space stations in Quest and enjoyed a super fun field trip to the Cradle of Aviation Museum.

Genre

In Genre, we received critiques on our stories with a focus on word choice and writing style. On Friday, learners created new drafts based on the feedback they received.

Quest

This week in Quest, we received feedback on our space station designs. After reviewing the suggestions, we created our plan for the week and began building our stations.

We also tested three different rocket fuels to determine which option causes the least harm to the environment. It was a great combination of science, engineering, and problem-solving.

Civ

In Civ., we explored the ideas of Immanuel Kant and Diderot’s Enlightenment Encyclopedia.

Some of the challenge questions we discussed included:

  • Are war and violence simply part of the human condition, or can you imagine a world at peace for 10 years?

  • Diderot died believing he had failed. Even though his encyclopedia shaped the world, if he felt like a failure, does it matter? Was he actually a failure?

These questions led to deep and thoughtful conversations.

Field Trip

Our field trip to the Cradle of Aviation Museum was a highlight of the week! Learners explored exhibits full of historic planes, discovered facts about our solar system, and learned how astronauts live in space.

Everything we learned connects directly to our space station project—making it both fun and meaningful.

This week was full of learning, creativity, and hands-on exploration. See you again next week, and have a wonderful weekend!
