Welcome to the Week 4 Journey Newsletter! Even though this was a short week, we accomplished so much. In Quest, we began designing our space stations. In Genre, we received feedback and revised our drafts. And of course, we wrapped up the week with a super fun Thanksgiving feast!
Genre
This week, learners both gave and received thoughtful feedback on their drafts. The feedback included suggestions on what to add, remove, change, or move. On Tuesday, everyone revised their first drafts based on this input, strengthening their writing and sharpening their ideas.
Quest
In Quest, we started planning the design of our space stations. Each design had to include a bathroom, a bedroom, a safe storage area for unused rocket fuel loads, a general storage area, a laboratory, and at least one unique central design feature chosen by each team.Learners researched real space station designs and took notes. Afterward, they sketched their own layouts on poster boards, labeling each part and noting its size and purpose. The following day, teams gathered materials and made a task list outlining who would be responsible for each component and how long each task would take.
Thanksgiving Party
To celebrate Thanksgiving, we enjoyed our annual feast! Before eating, learners rotated through stations where they could make play-dough sculptures, write what they're thankful for, and create paper turkeys. Then we headed to the basement to enjoy a delicious feast made possible by everyone who contributed. The celebration was a huge hit—full of fun, laughter, and great food!
Even with only two and a half days, this week was packed with excitement and joy. The feast was a highlight, and designing space stations brought out so much creativity. Wishing you all a wonderful rest of your week!
